After a long absence the rhinocerous beetle is back. I have just been buzzed by one on the balcony. 20 years ago they were quite common along with the stag beetles but apart from a couple seen in the coutryard two years ago I've not seen one or heard of anyone seeing one.
I do love big beetles and this one was a beauty of about 7 cm.. I feel a beetle watch coming on (any excuse to sleep out).
